Assam State Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the Northeast region of India. The zoo is located in the Hengrabari Reserved Forest in Guwahati. The zoo is home to a large number of animals, birds and reptiles however on my two visits to this zoo, I only focused on photographing only a handful of mammals and bird species making it seem as if the photo was taken in a natural forest with no or hardly any manmade elements or structures.
However certain mammals such as hyenas and gibbons were very difficult to photograph as they are quite hidden. I was only able to spot hyenas on my second day there. Here are the best photos that were taken by me on over a span of two days. I would recommend this place to anyone interesting in improving their wildlife photography on a budget. There is alot of free roaming deer within the zoo. The zoo is I think closed on Fridays however do confirm before visiting. I used the Canon EOS R6 and the Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens.
